Fiber Optics

About Fiber Optics

Physical Principles

Optical Fiber is structurally two different glass -core and clad, both with different refractive index. Light rays which enter the fiber at one end are guided along the core by total internal reflections at the core - clad interface; the light rays follow all the bends in the fiber and exit the fiber at its other end.

Advantages

Safety

  • Usable at High Temperature
It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout.
  • Micro Size
when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book.
  • Electro - Magnetic Immunity
It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout.
  • No Explosive Hazards
It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout.
  • Non - Corrosive
when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book.
  • Unaffected by Extreme Atmospheric Conditions
It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout.
  • No Electric Shock
Glass being bad conductor of electricity, glass fiber cable doesn’t carry any current/voltage noise or unwanted spruce signal to the sensing circuit, even when exposed to very high currents or voltage.
  • Used in High Temperature environment.
High temperature measurement is done using glass Optical fibers. The underlying principle of every object emits Infra-Red Rays is put to use in measuring temperature using Pyrometer.
  • Safety in inflammable area.
Illumination and Sensing, in hazardous and inflammable environment, using optical Fiber is ideal, as it carries only Light - no Electricity & Heat, hence there is no risk of sparks and flame
  • Non-Corrosive
Optical Fiber Cable is not affected by Corrosive fluids and gases.
  • No cross coupling
Fiber optics cables are electrically passive. Optical fibers carries only light and are not corrupted by electromagnetic interference.
  • Ideal for small working area application
An optic Fibers cable is relatively smaller and occupies small space. Thus, the cable can be placed in relatively inaccessible places.

Convenience & Low Maintenance

  • Easy Maintenance
It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout.
  • Wide Usage
Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature.

Design Effects

  • Design Patterns
Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since
  • Focused Lighting
It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout.

Disadvantages

Optical fiber being made of glass, are prone to breakage under high mechanical stress. However, there are variety of sheathing covers available, specific to the application. This protects fibre from breakage.
